Best cycling route by the river
Did you know we have e-bikes available to hire? And that we’re lucky enough to have some great cycling routes right on our doorstep? With that in mind we thought we would share our favourite one with you:
Start right outside Rebello on Cais de Gaia – a bike path that leads to the marina and fishing village of São Pedro da Afurada in just under 3 km.
A little further on you’ll reach a grassy, beachy Nature Reserve at the mouth of the Douro estuary – and then even further along the coast, you’ll find some of Porto’s fave sandy beaches to escape to. Which one is best? Just whichever beach isn’t too busy!
It’s worth following the coast all the way to the smart, beachy neighbourhood of Miramar. You’ll know you’ve made it when you spot Senhor da Pedra chapel in its odd, unusual location – rising up out of rocks, right there on a sandy beach.
This whole route is 13km, under an hour on a bike if you don’t stop at the beach or to eat grilled local fish (you should, of course).
To rent one of our e-bikes, to find out more and to check out our Rebello map of the neighbourhood, just ask at the front desk.
