Discover Porto’s Art District

Quarteirão das Artes, known simply as Bombarda to locals, is where you will find most of Porto’s art galleries – along with some of our favourite cafes and vintage stores. Located on Rua Miguel Bombarda and several adjacent streets, such as Rua do Breyner or Rua do Rosário, it is a must-visit for serious contemporary art lovers.

There are plenty of amazing places to pop in and discover the art world in Porto like Ap’arte, which promotes emerging artists, Ó Galeria !, focusing on illustration and author pieces, or Cruzes Canhoto, with an emphasis on art brut.

Along the way we suggest stopping in at charming Rota do Chá, one of the city’s best-known tea houses, Genuíno, a natural wine bar with petiscos and Vertigo Store or Matéria Prima – specialising in film and music-related merchandise.

Also, don’t forget to look out for public art quite literally on every corner. There are plenty of murals to admire, including our favourite depiction of D. Quixote, in which Cervantes’ characters have been given a contemporary twist.
